Local tip
Visit early in the week for fresher catch-of-the-day sourced from local markets.

Nestled on Bridges Street in Central, Hong Kong, Salon des Refusés offers a unique dining experience focused on Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is the brainchild of Chef Luca Marinelli, who brings the rich traditions of southern France and Northern Italy to the vibrant culinary landscape of Hong Kong. With small plates that capture the sun-drenched essence of this region, the menu stands as an evolving testament to fresh, seasonal produce. Each dish is meticulously crafted, linking the lush terrestrial flavors with those reeled in from the sea daily.

The restaurant prides itself on its consistently changing offerings. Every morning, Chef Luca sources fresh seafood at the Ap Lei Chau market, ensuring the menu is dictated by what is fresh and available. This dedication to quality and freshness not only enhances the dining experience but also means that every visit presents a new opportunity to discover something special. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in what Chef Luca calls Cuisine du Soleil, capturing the pure, unadulterated tastes that are characteristic of the Mediterranean.

The ambiance of Salon des Refusés matches its culinary philosophy. Intimate and inviting, it provides a setting where diners can enjoy the nuances of Mediterranean hospitality. Functional without being extravagant, the atmosphere amplifies the flavors on the plate.

Perfect for intimate gatherings or social dinners, the restaurant also hosts a range of events and collaborations, intended to deepen the guest experience. While the focus remains firmly on the food, the well-curated wine list enhances the flavour profile of each dish, offering pairings that transport diners to the rolling hills and coastal villages from which the ingredients hail.

The dining experience at Salon des Refusés is unique and welcoming, appealing to those who appreciate finely-tuned yet accessible Mediterranean dishes in a comforting and friendly setting.

Went there for a birthday celebration and was so disappointed. We tried the tasting menu. It started with a cold plate of chopped vegetables on ice, which was the same thing served in Jean-Pierre next door, maybe some people would like it but I found it bland and looked like rabbits food. The main dishes were a big let-down: everything was really buttery and the seasoning covered the taste of the seafood, which is a pity as the menu boasted using fresh, local sea produces. The scallop and crab leg were particularly horrible. The red prawn pasta was okay but again really buttery. After the meal my stomach felt as if I had had three Vission cookies in a row.

The food was really delicious and the quality was excellent. The portions were a little small for the price, but everything tasted great. The red prawn pasta was my favourite dish - second to none!Special thanks to Apurv and Gabriel, who were super friendly and made the dinner even more enjoyable.I had a great night with my friends there !

Incredible from start to finish! The food, the drinks, the beautiful space and all the staff make it a really unique experience - perfect for seafood lovers in HK. All the food was incredible and the overall vibe of the place matches it through and through! One of my new fave spots in HK!

We had dinner here and ordered chef’s menu. It’s really great in value, the food is so fresh and well cooked. I think we have more than 10 dishes including dessert. Highly recommend! Waiter service was good as well.

We had the tasting menu. The cold plates were excellent. Generally I do not like sardine but their sardine toast was very good. The crudo was also excellent. Vegetables were very fresh. 1 star deducted for the hot plates. They are not bad at all. But at that price we were expecting just a bit more. Particularly on the crab legs, it’s fine, not something that would wow you. Same thing goes to the scallop. Pasta was good but again not something that’d impress you deeply. Wine pairing was excellent. But don’t get me wrong overall it’s a nice place, good vibes, very nice staff, food is great just a bit pricey.
