Chiu Chow cuisine originates from the Chaoshan region of China, but is influenced by Cantonese cuisine in its style and technique. Strong flavored sauces, steamed seafood and stimulating soups characterize this delicious cuisine.
In Hong Kong, restaurants serving platters of Chiu Chow dishes are easily found in Sheung Wan. Their specialties are bean paste as a condiment for fish, bird's nest soup, spicy goose, and other dishes which come with intricately carved vegetables in the shape of a bird, dragon or phoenix.
