Been wanting to try this place since it opened. The restaurant delivered great seafood plates, but the lunch pacing and acoustics might need work to make up for the premium pricing. ✨ Vibes: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stylish setting; acoustics are poor, we could hear the entire next table’s conversation at our 2-person table against the wall on the restaurant side. ✨ Flavour: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tasty mains (lobster pasta was a highlight; fish was good but could use more veggies); scallop–asparagus soup tasted nice but scallop pieces were tiny ✨ Crew: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Attentive and friendly, though timing was off for a weekday lunch ✨ Worth: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food quality is high, but the slow service and noise issues don’t match the premium price point. Plating and presentation of the food could be better 🍜 Star Bites: lobster pasta, grilled fish 📝 We arrived at 1:05, put in our order at 1:10pm, appetizers arrived at 1:30pm and mains at 1:50pm leaving us rushing to finish. We saw the guests that arrived similar time already paying their bills. But at least the manager came check with us 😐 🍞Bread was yummy and kept us occupied while waiting. 📍 Recommended for the food, but go with flexible timing - and hopefully they’ll tweak the acoustics and lunch pacing soon.
I have not cone to Dot Cod for almost a decade. This new restaurant looks very different from the basement place it used to be located. It now has very high ceiling and is much brighter. The menu is very different as well. The appear to he fewer fish and seafood dishes and more beef and Asian ones. The crab cake is very pricey with small portion but 100 percent crab meat . The frilled Boston lobster is OK. It was a bit overcooked and was not sweet enough. The clam linguine was well done. The pasta was tasty and the clams fresh. The dessert of bread pudding was very delicious with dried raisins and berries.
Came here for lunch with some friends as it was closer to their office. The upstairs dining room is far more formal, with a colonial feel, while the downstairs was definitely a lot livelier and not as stuffy. One of my friends opted for the set lunch which consisted of a 3-course meal, while the others ordered a la carte. I thought the food was as expected from an establishment of this caliber. Also, Dot Cod is affiliated with the Kowloon Cricket Club, so the menu is also reminiscent of private club fare. Nothing terribly outstanding but on the other hand. very acceptable and suitable for a business lunch.
Having been an old customer of the previous Dot Cod for many years, I was genuinely looking forward to visiting the new outlet. Unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations. Upon entering the restaurant, I received no greeting from the staff, the receptionist remained at the counter chatting and laughing instead of welcoming guests. This first impression immediately set an unpleasant tone. During lunch, the service continued to be substandard. My server placed the dish on the table in a careless manner, dragging it across the surface which is not reflective of professional hospitality. The most disappointing issue, however, was the quality of my main course. It was completely COLD (both the meat and potato), as though it had been cooked long before being served. I would NOT recommend anyone to the restaurant. Highly disappointed.
Special occasion and came here for breakfast. A handful of menu items to choose from but quite excellent. Had the full English bf and spicy lane (yoghurt with poach eggs and chilli oil and sourdough toast). Fantastic service and ambience!
