Local tip
Stalls and shops in the area are also available. They sell locally produced salted fish and shrimp paste. Another activity you can do here, aside from photography, is to ride a boat along the river and the sea to search for Chinese white dolphins. A boat ride costs HK$20 for about 25-minute ride.

Regarded as the 'Venice of Hong Kong', Tai O is a Chinese stilt-house community at the northwest cost of Lantau. The villagers here are called Tanka, who are fisher folks.

One of the tourists' favorites is the old-fashioned rope-drawn 'ferry' that travels the creek dividing the town. It has been operating for 85 years until a manually-operated drawbridge is built lately. Although the traditional way of travelling to the next town has been replaced, the 'pang uks' (stilt house) are still sufficient to keep the place a traditional haven.

You can also drop by Tai O's museum.

Nearby attractions in the island are the Ngong Ping 360 , Hong Kong Disneyland and Big Buddha .
