Located on the top floor of Hotel ICON, 28 floors up, is the appropriately named bar and lounge, Above & Beyond. A quiet, chic, and comfortable atmosphere, coupled with an intimate setting and stunning view of Victoria Harbour make this an ideal spot to watch the Symphony of Lights.
Inside, it feels like a mixture between an upscale café, with chic architecture and furniture, with walls lined with bookshelves, and of course, a gorgeous view. It invites you to lounge, and stay a while. Their couches and chairs are extremely comfortable.
Although it’s in a hotel, the clientele is not limited to those staying at Hotel ICON. It draws a slightly older crowd of expats and locals, people on dates, singles, and business people. Why does such a diverse group choose to come here? The view and the drinks.
The drinks are very reasonably priced, and come with bar snacks. Their complimentary salted almonds are delicious, and yes, they do provide free refills! A plus is that the bar tenders are not in a hurry, and are very helpful, unlike in a packed LKF club. They will even explain differences in the taste of several cocktails or wine if you are unsure…just ask!
Dress code is classy, which is not a problem for the people who go there.
