GPRS/Wifi Info

You'll never be disconnected from the world even while you’re travelling, as Hong Kong gives you many choices for internet hotspots, whether you brought your computer with you or not. High speed internet access starts at the Hong Kong International Airport. Then, once you’re in town, most hotels, restaurants and coffee shops are Wi-Fi hotspots as well. The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre offers free Wi-Fi for visitors. In IFC mall (in Central), you can use the free Wi-Fi for a maximum of 45 minutes. Other restaurants or cafes provide free Internet access when you purchase food or a drink. A large percentage of hotels don't give Internet access for free, but it is often available upon purchase of a card for about HK$100-HK$150. Validity time may differ from 100 minutes to unlimited use for a certain number of days depending of course on the hotel.

If you’re not bringing your computer/laptop with you, there are still a lot of places you can go to to access the Internet. There are also cyber cafés you can go to with rental rates ranging from HK$40/ hour to HK$80/hour. The most popular is Cyber Pro Internet Café in Tsim Sha Tsui ferry terminal. The Hong Kong Central Library in Causeway bay allows you to use their computers for free for a maximum of 2 hours.
