Description

Step into the Hong Kong Museum of History in Tsim Sha Tsui and travel through approximately 6,000 years of Hong Kong’s fascinating past. Your local English-speaking guide will lead you through the “Hong Kong Story” Permanent Exhibition, which reopened with a completely refreshed presentation in April 2026. Follow Hong Kong’s journey from prehistoric times and ancient Chinese civilization through cultural exchange, wartime experiences, post-war development, and the city’s emergence as an international metropolis. The exhibition features more than 2,800 precious exhibits alongside immersive historical settings and multimedia displays. Along the way, discover archaeological treasures including prehistoric stone tools and artifacts associated with the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb, learn about traditional customs and everyday life, and explore the dramatic changes that shaped modern Hong Kong. Your guide will explain the stories behind selected exhibits and help you understand Hong Kong beyond its skyscrapers and shopping streets. There will also be time to enjoy the museum’s recreated historical settings and capture memorable travel photos. The museum’s permanent exhibition is free to enter. Official public guided tours are also available separately on a first-come, first-served basis, but they are operated by the museum and are subject to availability.
