we had the best time dining in Yarbird. our server was one of the best (and regretting thag we didn’t get her name!) and the food was fantastic. not one bad thing came to our table, maybe except for the breast yakitori - flavor was bland vs all the rest we ordered which was super delicious
Literally the best yakitori I’ve ever had! Perfectly smoked and well seasoned. Definitely recommend the wings and oyster. The bartender was super sweet to engage and check in on me throughout the night. Will certainly revisit to try out their other cocktails. Fantastic dining experience!
Came here with the family on Saturday night. We’ve been hearing from that place for a while, and I was pretty excited to try it. Long story short, it was disappointing. Service was lacking the attention you expect for that standard, yakitori were ok but rest of the dishes were more on western side of things (corn tempura didn’t live up to the “must try” recommendation). No help on cocktails selection from waiter, shame as they have an extensive selection with specific JP whisky list. Atmosphere is good, lively place with a lot of energy.
It’s a total institution of HK! Love the whole beak to tail yakitori concept with great execution and upbeat vibes. We walked in and got one of the standing tables. You absolutely need to order these 2 dishes: - the chicken meatballs served with egg yolk dip, I had one too many of them. It’s the best chicken meatballs I’ve had. - the chicken and egg fried rice was the perfect comfort food. - sweetcorn tempura. I ain’t a fan of corn and I’m now a convert! We ordered other dishes (chicken breast, thigh, heart) and enjoyed them though I’d prefer them to be more flavourful. But the cooking technique was 💯 Their classic cocktails are strong and I was buzzed real quick (or maybe I’m a light weight). Huge shoutout to the bartenders who were super friendly and made it such a fun night experience!
Yardbird Hong Kong came highly recommended by a friend who had loved it from over 10 years ago, so expectations were naturally high. The restaurant has a cool, confident energy, and the menu is impressively extensive - especially if you enjoy exploring different cuts of chicken, from skin to organs and other yakitori-style specialties. Makes you feel every part of the chicken wasn’t wasted. That said, while the concept is interesting and the execution is solid, I can’t say the meal truly impressed me, especially given its Michelin-star reputation. The pricing is also on the high side, which perhaps comes with the territory, but it does raise expectations even further. Overall, Yardbird is worth experiencing if you enjoy chicken-focused dining and a lively atmosphere, but for me, it didn’t quite live up to the hype.
