The dishes were pretty good in general except a couple fell short of expectations. Interesting decor, good variety of dishes, traditional and nuevos.

Lucky Ship Restaurant & Bar is a Chinese restaurant at the newly developed Hopewell Food Street in Wanchai. The Dai Pai Dong setting resembles that of the famous Lei Yuen Mun Seafood Village. The main dining room with a high ceiling is bright and tidy. Staff is sincere and attentive. Seafood is fresh, and the signature dishes with local flavor are delicious. Highly recommend the silky smooth and sweet Tanka-Style Fish Soup (HK$ 298/regular), the flavourful Fried Mantis Shrimp with Salt & Pepper (HK$228/pc; 2pc minimum), the succulent Flower Crab cooked in Aged Shao Xing Wine & Chicken Oil (HK$880/crab; Approximately 600g/crab), and the tasty Baked Organic Tomato Kurobuta Pork Chop Rice with Cheese (HK$338/regular; addition HK$20/egg).

We stumbled upon Lucky Ship Restaurant & Bar (船嘉.福) because it was located literally right outside the Hopewell Hotel. It was late, most other places nearby were already closed, and we were exhausted from traveling. Since it was noted for its authentic Hong Kong style, we decided to give it a shot. We also absolutely loved the decor inside—it has a charming, mini "old Hong Kong" vibe that felt very nostalgic. Because we were tired, we initially shied away from the premium live seafood options, even though the staff gave us a gentle, friendly nudge to try them. Not being entirely familiar with Hong Kong cuisine, we had to guess on a few menu items, but the staff was incredibly helpful. They were highly accommodating and easily communicated with us in a mix of Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. To our surprise, absolutely everything we ordered was delicious: Crispy Chicken: Even this simple staple was incredibly flavorful and perfectly prepared. Crispy Shrimp with Egg Yolk & Chicken Floss: A unique, savory, and standout dish. Black Pork Dish: Super soft, tender, and juicy. Clams in Black Bean Sauce: Fresh, savory, and packed with flavor. Fish Fin Soup: A massive portion size that was perfect for sharing. The service was speedy, attentive, and very pleasant. For our party of 6, the total came out to around $260 USD (which included the 10% service charge). For six people eating that much fresh, high-quality food, we felt it was a very fair price! We ended up finishing our entire meal and even ordered extra takeout to enjoy back in our hotel room. This was our very first meal in Hong Kong, and it has given us high hopes for all the amazing food we have to look forward to on the rest of our trip. There is so much left on their menu that we'd love to try!

Excellent Chinese dining at Syun Ga Fuk (船 嘉 福)experience in Wan Chai. The food was outstanding, beautifully presented, and full of authentic flavour. The service was warm and attentive, and the whole atmosphere felt comfortable and refined. A perfect place for a special meal in Hong Kong, and I would definitely come back again.

Nice old school casual street-style Cantonese food in a slightly upscale backdrop - a little strange a little mismatch but also a little interesting Bonus points : pet-friendly and rain-proof if you are able to get a table outdoor Room for improvement : the old door area is built on a slope and the restaurant does not bother to do something about the inclined tables ; slow and lackluster service probably due to big labor costs and market competition; overall more work can be done by the management to improve friendliness
