Amazing experience, one of the authentic indian and nepali food i have in Hongkong. Must recommend place to visit and have fun in hongkong, food was super tasty
Speedy service, food arrived under 10 minutes (maybe even under 5?), absolutely delicious and portions were larger than expected. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly and helpful. Good prices for such a central and accessible location. We will be back!
Take Exit C at Sheung Wan MTR and you find this Indian restaurant. The food was good, attendants friendly and location is also accessible. We came at night from Macao and the restaurant was open around 10.30.
Just 1 minute walk from Sheung Wan MTR exit C for one of the most popular Indian street food. Pani means water and puri means fried puffed hollow dough balls. The Pani water adds a bit of heat and tanginess which makes perfect balance to the puris, the fried balls which are so crispy. Inside the fried balls, they added boiled potatoes, fried onions, instant noodles and a few pomegranates allowing different layers of sour, sweet, savory and heat burst on your taste buds while keeping the street vibes. Of course Pani puri is just a starter. We also had the mango lassi, vegetable curry, lamb kadai, chicken current and two naans (a garlic naan and a green onion naan). The mango lassi, a traditional Indian beverage, is creamy, smooth and full of mango flavor. The lamb kadai, a rustic slow cooked northern Indian mutton with onions, chili, garlic, ginger and the right spices is my favorite. The mutton is so tender that it melts in your mouth. As We had ordered two curry, so a less gravy lamb kadai was just what we wanted. Also their naan is not as greasy as the usual one. So no guilt. At the end of the meal, I was so contended and full that I couldn’t have any more dessert. Perhaps in our next visit. The restaurant has been there for almost a decade. I went with my family before and the owner was kind enough to also gave us a complimentary dessert. Hopefully more people will support the local restaurants!
🇮🇳Tucked away in Sheung Wan, "Basmati" is a warm, family-style restaurant serving authentic Indian food. Their HK$498 set menu for two is excellent value, offering generous portions of classic dishes. This is a fantastic and satisfying way to experience the depth of genuine Indian flavors.
