Always joy with Always Joy Sublime, fantastic and marvellous dinning experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We will definitely return to try other dishes and wine 🤤
Great continuation of the previous Yardbird spot by the same team. You don’t expect to dine on a budget here but you’ll find refreshing modern takes on fresh Japanese and local flavours. A good place for catching up with friends over small bites and sake.
Amazing experience! They change the menu according to the seasonal ingredients…never get bored with it. Staffs are really friendly and attentive. They will get to know your preferences and likings and suggest the drinks to pair with the foid!! Definitely for dinner with friends or for your date nights.
Great service, good vibes, delicious food. A lot of seafood choices in the menu, I like it!! We didn’t order the chef menu, we order what we wanted to eat. The noodle 炒麵 very good. Will come again!!
We celebrated a friend’s birthday at the new Always Joy in Sheung Wan, run by the former Ronin/Yardbird team and styled as a Japanese‑inspired diner with an elevated izakaya vibe. To keep things simple we chose the 9‑course “Menu of Joy”, with the option to request specific items from the main menu. Menu of Joy (9 Dishes) 1) BOUDEUSE OYSTERS, KUMQUAT KOSHO – bright, citrusy and refreshing, a very izakaya‑style start. 2) DAILY SASHIMI – amberjack, toro, cod and uni, all very fresh and fatty with a silky, sinew‑free texture. 3) SQUID, PLUM SOBA – chilled, sweet‑tart and appetising, with soft squid that works well as a mid‑meal palate reset. 4) UNI HANDROLL – crisp nori, well‑tempered rice and sweet, clean uni made this a very satisfying one‑bite roll, though the portion was small. 5) CHARCOAL GRILLED BEANS – a surprise favourite, slightly blistered with a touch of sea salt, so moreish we kept going back for more (this corresponds to the grilled bean dish on the menu). 6) SNOW CRAB SPRING ROLL WITH PARMESAN – a hot, juicy snow‑crab and lily‑bulb filling with a cheesy aroma; be careful biting in as it’s literally mouth‑scalding. 7) CHARCOAL GRILLED MIYAZAKI BEEF LETTUCE WRAP – served Korean‑style in lettuce; the beef is very smoky and well‑seasoned, but feels just right once wrapped, making you want a few extra pieces. 8) CHARCOAL GRILLED PIGEON, SHICHIMI – we specially requested this, but the portion was smaller and the gamey flavour milder than expected, so it didn’t quite live up to the hype. 9) SEARED TUNA WITH IKURA SEAWEED RICE – rice on the firmer side but well seasoned; when my friend mentioned she doesn’t like fish with bones, the chef thoughtfully sent out extra tuna sashimi for us, and also suggested shrimp‑oil noodles as an alternative for those who don’t enjoy seared fish. Dessert was a chocolate brownie with strawberries, plus complimentary ice cream with cherry sauce and cherries for the birthday, a cosy way to close the Menu of Joy. The atmosphere is relaxed and happy, chefs at the counter chat with guests and explain dishes, and even our neighbours were friendly, making it a great spot for celebrations. Prices are on the higher side but feel fair for the quality and service, and I’d gladly return to explore more small plates from the a‑la‑carte menu.
