Exceptional! A true showcase of fine Japanese ingredients and exceptional culinary skill and creativity. Everything was perfect, and I'll be dreaming of the breads.
My wife and I did the tasting menu with wine pairing this week and Ta Vie is now one of our favorite restaurants in all of Asia. The food was so creative and beautifully presented. The pairings were very thoughtful and perfect for each dish. Every dish was amazing but our favorites were the pasta with uni and the Hokki clam and morel mushroom stuffed with scallop dumplings. There was not a missed beat all night. The chef himself presented a few of the courses along with his descriptions of his creations. They create some of their own cocktails, teas, and coffee here and they are exquisite. And they also bring out various in house made breads that are some of the best bread I’ve had. A memorable meal in an elegant space with the perfect touches. We highly recommend Ta Vie!
To put it simply: if you were to go to only one restaurant in your life, this should be the place. The service was flawless—perfectly attentive and thoughtful without ever being overbearing. It made the entire experience feel special, and the food is just on another level. We had the seasonal tasting menu, and every single dish was a standout. It's hard to pick, but the eggplant salad with "Mizu" octopus and Ossetra caviar was my absolute all-time favorite—just an unforgettable start. But every course that followed was just as impressive. The crispy blue lobster paella had such a deep, rich "Rouille" sauce. The house-made fresh pasta with Hokkaido uni was incredibly decadent and perfectly cooked. The "Taraba" king crab with brown butter sauce was a perfect pairing. The quail pie with porcini felt so comforting yet sophisticated. Even the signature flower tea was aromatic and felt like its own special course. To finish, the apple and pink guava sorbet was beautifully refreshing, and the crispy éclair with pumpkin cream was a dream. This is my first trip to Hong Kong and Ta Vie will be the highlight and live on forever in my memories.
