Description

Fukuoka: Mt. Aso Volcano & Kurokawa Onsen Scenic Day Tour Depart Fukuoka for a day of natural wonders and cultural charm! Visit Shirakumi Kumanozu Shrine (inspired by the anime Hotarubi no Mori e), explore Japan’s largest caldera at Mt. Aso with its wild horses, and unwind in the hidden hot spring paradise of Kurokawa Onsen—where volcanic grandeur meets soothing onsen serenity. This isn’t just a tour; it’s a journey through Kyushu’s most captivating layers: anime magic, raw geological power, and timeless onsen tranquility. 1. Shirakumi Kumanozu Shrine: Step into Hotarubi no Mori e’s World Immerse yourself in the real-life setting of the beloved anime Hotarubi no Mori e—a shrine nestled in Kumamoto’s misty forests, blending reality with animated beauty. Anime-Inspired Scenery: Traverse moss-covered stone steps, wander lantern-lit corridors, and snap photos of the iconic red torii gate reflecting in crystal-clear streams—every spot feels like a movie poster. Golden-Hour Magic: Visit at dusk for sunlight filtering through trees, mimicking the anime’s legendary firefly glow. Pro Tip: Wear pastel clothes for soft, anime-style shots. Write wishes on hotaru (firefly)-shaped ema (wooden plaques) and hang them by the sacred spring. 2. Mt. Aso Volcano & Kusasenri: Explore Japan’s Largest Caldera Venture into the awe-inspiring landscape of Mt. Aso, home to Japan’s largest caldera, and experience the earth’s raw power. Kusanohashi Overlook: Gaze across the 25km-wide caldera at the smoking Nakadake Peak (active vent). The grassy plateau shifts hues with seasons—lush green in spring, golden in autumn—perfect for viral-worthy drone shots (#AsoVolcanoScale). Kusasenri’s Charms: Watch wild horses graze on mineral-rich grass by a volcanic lake that mirrors Nakadake’s silhouette. Stack volcanic rocks (believed to hold earth’s vitality) and try kuro-tamago (black eggs steamed in volcanic gas)—a local treat said to add 7 years to your life! Hike Smart: Wear anti-slip boots (volcanic ash is slippery) and bring a windbreaker (gusty plateaus). 3. Kurokawa Onsen: A Hidden Hot Spring Gem End your day in Kurokawa, a mountain village where time slows to the rhythm of steaming onsen. Open-Air Baths (Rotemburo): Soak in 100% natural mineral springs—choose cedar-lined tubs with forest views or riverside baths with the Kurokawa River’s murmur. Important Itinerary Notes Winter Adjustments (Dec 1 – Feb 28): Departure time is adjusted to 8:00. If icy roads block access to Kurokawa Onsen, the destination will switch to Shirakawa Water Source. For Kurokawa Onsen Stayers: Guests planning to stay in Kurokawa Onsen must inform us in advance. Insurance: This tour does not include personal travel/accident insurance.
