Call Me Al on Queen’s Road was one of my favourite spots in Hong Kong. It has the kind of energy that makes it feel like a real local hotspot: lively, stylish, and somewhere people clearly actually want to be, rather than just tick off a list. The food was excellent across the board. The Polmard beef tartare was a standout, the spicy rigatoni had just the right amount of heat without overpowering the dish, and the smashed burger fully delivered. They also have a good wine selection, which makes it an easy place to settle into for the evening. After dinner, I had the Call Me Betty cocktail, which was a great finish and fit the place perfectly. All round, a really strong spot with great food, good drinks, and a fun atmosphere that feels very Hong Kong.
Very nice local eatery that opens right up to the sidewalk in Sheung Wan. The food and the cocktails were great. Loved the decor and vibe. Would recommend Call Me Al and give it a solid 4.5 across the boards.
Lovely dinner at Call Me AL!!! The food was great, but what really made the night special was their thoughtful gesture — I’d mentioned my friend’s birthday when booking but forgot to order dessert. They surprised us with a birthday treat at the end. Such a sweet touch! Will definitely return.🫶🏿
We got in because of the cute alien logo lol. Food is not bad, loved the beef tartare, generous portion of parmesan cheese on the spicy rigatoni. We also ordered the Christmas Plate (seasonal dish), taste was too strong, basically just heavy seasoned ham, brussels sprout, bread + cranberry jam, it was a bit disappointing. Very good vibe tho, can stay here for a few drinks.
Visited this bar in Sheung Wan, recommend by one friend, tgt with another friend, whom I hadnt met for a long time, for dinner. . We shared the following dishes: -Peaches & Burrata (HKD130) The dish included pickled cantaloupe, crispy serrano ham, habanero hot honey and herbs. The burrata had an intense milk aroma and was creamy. The sweetness of the cantaloupe moderated the saltiness of the ham, adding textures and complexities to the dish. -Smoked Ceviche (HKD140) The dish consisted of tuna, mackerel, prawn, scallop, sansho cream and tortilla chips. The slightly sour sansho cream paired well with the fresh sashimi. Combining them with the crispy tortilla chips and enjoyed them in one bite elevated the dining experience. -Spicy Rigatoni (HKD160) The dish featured chorizo, calabrian chili, mascarpone and parmesan. Its surface was covered by an abundant amount of parmesan and the chili and chorizo made the dish spicy and smoky. -Rump Steak (HKD230) The steak was paired with potato puree and scallion chili oil. Ordered medium rare, its pink meat looked attractive and had a tender texture. The potato puree was smooth and the chili oil elevated its aroma. For cocktails, I ordered the AL's Iced Tea with Vodka (HKD110), made with English breakfast tea, peach tea and lemon. It was super refreshing and pleasantly sweet. I couldn't quit recall the name of the cocktails ordered by them though🙈. . Not only does this bar serve enjoyable cocktails, but they also provide presentable and savoury food. The staff was super passionate and energetic while serving us, leaving us with a memorable experience. We sat in a semi-opened area, so it was slightly hot while we enjoyed our food.
